How to knit with Icelandic plötulopi

Plötulopi is a special type of unspun Icelandic wool that’s light, warm, and soft.

It’s made from 100% Icelandic sheep wool and is perfect for knitting traditional Icelandic sweaters, known as lopapeysa. Even though it looks delicate, it becomes strong when knitted, especially with two or more strands.

Lopapeysa handknit sweaters made from plötulopi are warm but not heavy, which makes them great for everyday wear.

In our store, we sell both plötulopi and easy-to-use knitting kits, so you can make your own Icelandic sweater at home. They’re great for beginners and experienced knitters alike!

In case you need some help on how to handle this unique yarn, we put together some information.

On youtube you can find a great tutorial by the Yarn company ISTEX called
„Get to know plötulopi from ISTEX yarn“
